I am trying to set up ClamAV to use with ORF on Windows Server 2008 R2. When I try to execute the command "freshclam --install", I get the error, "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect."

Any ideas on the problem?

@aflowers: It is possible the server does not have some required C++ runtime components installed, or some registry entries got messed up. To fix this, try installing or reinstalling it:

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)

@Krisztián Fekete (Vamsoft): Thank you for the reply!

I tried this, as well as the older 2005 redist. Nothing works. So, until a better plan comes along, I will not try Clam for now.

@aflowers: I ran into the same problem. You can download the dlls from this website
http://oss.netfarm.it/clamav/#news

I put them in the Clamav folder and it fixed the problem. Clamav is a pain to install, but it is worth it. Too much stuff slips by without it.

Also, I'm sure you already have this link, but if not, here is the vamsoft guide to install clamav

@aflowers: After posting that I found this link which I used as well.

http://vamsoft.com/forum/topic/135/clamav-download

It has some good info on configuring the service.

Finally, make sure you download and setup ClamSUP with the 3rd party databases.
