Hi Peter,
Any changes except the expiration date in this release?

@systema.gmbh: Hi Norbert,

None -- it's only the expiration date. It is recommended to install nonetheless if you use the beta in production, because the ORF 5.2 consumer version is not expected to ship before March 1.

Just did. Btw. would it be possible to change the update routine, so that ORF service will be started if it is an update and the service was running before?

@NorbertFe: This is actually intentional, because ORF releases typically have new features (often enabled by default) with settings that you may not prefer. This certainly does not apply to beta-to-beta or beta-to-RTM updates, but these just follow the same path as the regular installers.

OK, although I would prefer different handling between upgrade and clean installs, I can see, that this would probably more Support cases than the actual way.

Is it possible to Export a configuration snapshot to another System? Having such a snapshot as baseline on USB would be nice. Is it possible to view the differences between two snapshots and/or the live configuration somehow?

@NorbertFe: Q: Is it possible to Export a configuration snapshot to another System? Having such a snapshot as baseline on USB would be nice.

A: Snapshots are not stored individually, so it is not possible to transfer them that way. They are stored in two files in the ORF directory (cs-inventory.xml and cs-storage.xml), so by transferring these two files to another instance will move all snapshots at once.

To move a single configuration state, you can do the following:

1. Save the current configuration on the first server
2. Convert the snapshot created by the configuration save to baseline (so you can switch back to it later)
3. Revert to the baseline snapshot you wish to transfer
4. Copy over the configuration file (orfent.ini, which now stores the configuration of the baseline snapshot you reverted to: http://vamsoft.com/r?o-cfg-ei-guide) to the other instance
5. Revert back to the snapshot created in step 2

Q: Is it possible to view the differences between two snapshots and/or the live configuration somehow?

A: No side-by-side comparison is available, the only way is loading the snapshot for editing (http://vamsoft.com/r?o-hto-adm-cfgs-mgr) without reverting back to it (so the live configuration will not be overridden) and reviewing it in the Administration Tool.
