I recently read about this newer type of SPF record. Not sure I understand it.
What is it and does this software test for it?

@matt.reed: The SPF policy can be published either in a TXT or SPF record (Type 99). These are identical, only their type differs. Wikipedia says

SPF RR: Specified as part of the SPF protocol as an alternative to of storing SPF data in TXT records. Uses the same format as the earlier TXT record.

ORF currently does not evaluate Type 99 SPF records, but it is not really a problem, because

* Type 99 is not yet widely adopted, almost everyone uses TXT records to publish their SPF policy
* domains which have a Type 99 resource record should have the same policy published in a TXT record: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4408#section-3.1.1
