What is SORBS and what happened to it?

SORBS (Spam and Open-Relay Blocking System) was a DNS Blacklist service created in November 2001, widely utilized to identify numerous spam sources. Recently, Proofpoint announced the decommissioning of SORBS, ceasing its provision of reputation data.

What should I do?

We strongly recommend removing SORBS from your ORF configuration to avoid possible problems.

1. Start the ORF Administration Tool and connect to your local or remote ORF instance.
2. Navigate to the Blacklists > DNS Blacklists page.
3. Locate the SORBS Combined List and remove it by clicking the Delete button. Confirm deletion by clicking Yes.
4. Save your configuration to apply these changes (Ctrl + S or File > Save Configuration).
