This section explains the email notifications and event settings.
These settings can be found on the
page in Administration Tool (click Email notifications - Configure button).Request email notifications about specific events using this log device. You may find it useful if you want to get notified about errors or other problems with ORF.
Set this checkbox to enable sending email notifications when the selected events occur.
Select events you want to get notified about by the event class, severity and filtering point.
Set the checkbox of an event category to generate email notification it, e.g., set the Send email about events with Error severity checkbox to get notified about events with Error severity or set On Arrival: Send email when an email is blacklisted if you want to get notified about blacklisted emails at the On Arrival filtering point. Where noted, the specific event overrides the Info severity settings, i.e., if notifications about events with Info severity is disabled, but logging blacklisted emails at the On Arrival filtering point is enabled, the event will generate a notification even if the severity is Info.
The settings can be edited only if the Enable Sending Email Notifications checkbox is ticked on the Events tab.
Enter the email address that will receive email notifications. Use a comma-separated list to send notifications to multiple addresses.
Select the format in which you wish to receive the email notifications using the radio buttons (HTML or Plain text format).
Enter the email address to be used as the sender.
The local part of the email address will be prefixed with an 8-digit randomly generated number (e.g. [email protected]).
When sending email notifications over the Internet, ensure that you use a mail server authorized to send emails on behalf of the domain specified in the sender email address. Otherwise, the email may be blocked by receiving mail servers that perform SPF sender validation.
ORF sends the email notifications using the Replay Directory (Exchange 2007 and above) or the SMTP Service's Pickup Directory (IIS SMTP) if you select the first option (recommended), or using a specified SMTP if you select the second. The latter is useful when you want to deliver the notification message using another SMTP server or port.
