Log and Events: ORF PowerLog Settings

This section explains the ORF PowerLog settings.

General Information

ORF PowerLogs are required by the ORF Reporting Tool for generating reports. Learn more about ORF PowerLogs below.

Configuration tab

Enable ORF PowerLogs

Set this checkbox to enable generating ORF PowerLogs and thus reporting.

Path

Set the path where ORF PowerLogs files will be generated. The path must be a valid and existing path, preferably on a local drive. By clicking the ellipsis (...) button or by pressing CTRL-SPACE in the edit box, you can select the path from a folder dialog.

Preprocessing

The ORF Service preprocesses the PowerLog files (stored with .opg extension) to speed up generating reports. Once the preprocessing is finished, the PowerLog file is no longer needed for reporting. Set the Delete PowerLogs after preprocessing checkbox to delete the PowerLog (.opg) files after preprocessing and save disk space.

PowerLogs

ORF PowerLogs are used by the ORF Reporting Tool to generate reports. You must enable this log medium to generate reports. PowerLogs are currently not supported by the ORF Log Viewer.

PowerLogs consist of the daily log files and the external reference file called plogrefs.dat. Daily log files have .opg extension and their file name contains the creation date in the UTC (Universal Coordinated Time) time zone.

When PowerLogs are enabled, the ORF Service periodically preprocesses the daily PowerLog files in order to speed up generating reports. The result of the preprocessing process is a file with the same name as the daily log, but with a .ppr extension. Once the PowerLog daily log file is preprocessed, the daily log file itself is no longer needed for generating reports.
