List Import and Export Formats

Expression lists, like the Sender Blacklist or the Keyword Blacklist can be imported/exported to/from various formats. This section describes the available import and export format options.

Import and Export Formats

"Simple Text File" Format

Simple ASCII text file, rows are separated by an Enter (CR-LF characters, 0x0D-0x0A sequence), columns are separated using a single TAB (0x09) character.

Can be edited using Windows Notepad or by any ASCII text editor.

"Quoted CSV with Comma Field Separator" Format

ASCII text file, rows are separated by an Enter (CR-LF characters, 0x0D-0x0A sequence), columns are separated using a comma (",") character. Cell data is placed between double quotes (internal double quotes are doubled).

Can be edited using Microsoft® Excel, Windows Notepad or by any ASCII text editor.

"Quoted CSV with Semicolon Field Separator" Format

ASCII text file, rows are separated by an Enter (CR-LF characters, 0x0D-0x0A sequence), columns are separated using a semicolon (";") character. Cell data is placed between double quotes (internal double quotes are doubled).

Can be edited using Microsoft® Excel, Windows Notepad or by any ASCII text editor.

XML Format

XML format is used when the list items are complex structures, e.g., may contain multiple sub-items or when Unicode is supported by the list. The XML format is widely used for platform and software-independent data exchange.
