ORF 5 and later versions support managing both local and remote ORF installations. The connection startup page is displayed when any of the tools of ORF (Administration Tool, Log Viewer or Reporting Tool) is launched for the first time when you have not yet connected to any ORF instance (and by default, each time any of the tools is launched, see the Network Settings topic for more information).
When you start a tool, by default you will be prompted to connect to the local or to a remote ORF instance. Either can be achieved by clicking the down arrow of the Connect to... button and selecting the local installation or the remote server option, or by selecting
in the main menu, or by clicking the down arrow below the network icon on the upper toolbar.Clicking the Connect to... button will connect to the instance you last connected to (if there were any previous connections established), or pops up the Connect dialog (if ORF runs for the first time).
The remote connection requires the server name or IP, the connection port (TCP/6242 by default, example: servername:6242) and the password of the remote server to be entered. This feature also requires the Remote Access option on the remote server to be enabled. For more information about enabling this, please consult the Remote Access topic.
Note that remote connection requires the communication port (TCP/6242 by default) to be opened.
ORF will periodically check for new versions and will notify you if an update is available.
The latest news from our website are displayed in this section, so you will be notified instantly if a new tool, useful article or a new DNS or SURBL definition is available.
Clicking the More News link in the lower right corner will open the news page of the ORF website in the default browser.
By clicking the Network Settings link in the lower left corner, you can configure ORF to connect directly or through a proxy server. For more information, see the Proxy Settings page.
